Kosas Concealer Review

Kosas Concealer Review

If there is one beauty product that I can’t live without, or let me rephrase that, wouldn’t want to live without, it’s concealer. Blemishes happen, dark under eye circles happen, even when we do our best to eat right and aim for those 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

However, as we all have experienced, not all concealers are created equal. Some concealers instead of concealing seem to highlight the problem area because of their dry formula which creases or the pigment which stands out instead of blending in.

That’s why when I was introduced to Kosas Revealer Concealer, I was ecstatic because not only is it clean, but it works. In fact, Kosas adheres to the EU, Sephora and Credo clean standards which means that they don’t use unwanted ingredients such as Propylene Glycol (PPG), Dimethicone, Phthalates and more than 2,700 other ingredients in their products.

Here are the deets on the Kosas Revealer Concealer:

Key Ingredients

When you apply the Kosas concealer, you’ll immediately notice that it brightens, soothes, and plumps.

The star ingredients behind this magic are:

  • Caffeine and pink algae – Brightens the skin. Caffeine constricts blood vessels, revitalizing dull, tired, puffy skin. Pink algae helps hydrate and fight free radicals.
  • Arnica and provitamin B5 – Soothes the skin. Arnica reduces inflammation and B5 helps the skin retain moisture.
  • Peptides and hyaluronic acid – Plumps the skin. Peptides protect the skin from exposure to free radical damage. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant and helps to strengthen the skin’s protective barrier.

Ingredient List

Aqua, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Mica, Octyldodecanol, Ethylhexyl Olivate, Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate, Undecane, Glycerin, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Tridecane, Galactoarabinan, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Glyceryl Oleate, Helianthus Annuus Seed Wax, Lecithin, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Caffeine, Squalane, Dunaliella Salina (Algae) Extract, Tocopherol, Maltodextrin, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Fruit Oil, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate

The Kosas Concealer can be purchased in a mini size to not only test out the color, but also make sure the shade you have selected is what you want.

The mini size comes in 6 shades and is $15.00.

I love that you can test drive the concealer with a mini size.

Kosas Revealer Concealer Review

I’ve tried my fair share of concealers and this is by far my favorite. The Kosas concealer is a super creamy consistency and well, a dream to apply. You can apply the concealer by dabbing the applicator on your skin and then blending with your fingers or a blender sponge such as Kosas’ Revealer Dual-Ended Makeup Blender

This concealer is a magic wand that can be used anywhere on your skin that could use some brightening, highlighting or smoothing. It is an all-in-one-solution: concealer, eye cream, and spot treatment! I use the concealer after I’ve applied my foundation.

To help you find your shade, you can choose a model that best represents your skin tone and then you can select more specifics about your skin concerns such as blemishes, redness, wrinkles, dryness, pores, etc, this ensures that you get the right shade for your skin.

To further foolproof your concealer selection, you have the option of buying a Revealer Concealer sample card for $8.00. As a bonus, the $8.00 also serves as site credit for a future Kosas purchase. Score!

I also love that they have a chart that matches your concealer shade to your foundation shade.

Love how the Kosas Concealer wears! I am wearing shade 3.5.

Coverage

The Kosas concealer provides a dewy, medium coverage.

Creasing

No cracked crows feet here, because Kosas is hydrating, it doesn’t crease. Kosas doesn’t try to cover your skin’s imperfections, instead their formula brightens, soothes, and plumps your skin.

Longevity

It lasts all day and there are many days that I have put it to the test!

Skin Type

Kosas states that their concealer is great for all skin types but Kosas products are made by people with sensitive skin.

Awards

Beauty Innovator Awards, Refinery29 (2020)

Best Concealer, SHAPE Beauty Awards (2020)

Best Clean Concealer, Women’s Health Beauty Awards (2020)

This concealer has won so many beauty awards- it’s that good!

Any Cons?

The Kosas concealer contains caprylic/capric triglyceride which sometimes is mistaken for fractionated coconut oil. While it is sourced from coconut oil, only the Caprylic and Capric Fatty Acids are used which creates a silky and lightweight texture, unlike fractionated coconut oil which has an oily consistency.

Is it non comedogenic?

Kosas Revealer Concealer is non-comedogenic. Many beauty products that tout “good” ingredients actually clog the pores and antagonize skin prone to acne.

Conclusion: Does it live up to the hype?

Does it brighten my skin? Check.

Does it soothe my skin? Check.

Does it plump my skin? Check.

Kosas conducted a consumer study and after 28 days of use:

100% of participants agreed that the concealer improved the quality of their bare skin.

100% of participants agreed the concealer effectively conceals dark under eye circles, dark spots, and blemishes.

100% of participants agreed that the concealer made their skin appear more radiant and luminous.

The Kosas concealer blends effortlessly and instantly brightens skin and instead of a flat looking paint job, the concealer hydrates, revealing plumper skin.
