Did You Really Know Your Scalp Type?

Not all scalps are made the same, and healthy hair always start with knowing your scalp. Just as our skin types vary, your scalp has its type too. That’s what we’re going to explore today, the 5 different kinds of scalp characteristics once you narrow down to what yours is.

Oily Scalp

If you wash your hair during the day, and your scalp gets oily quickly after a few hour. That’s a typical sign of oily scalp. It’s perfectly normal that our scalp will produce sebum just like our face. But when your scalp tend to overly produce an excessive amount of sebum, it will lead to oiliness.

Dry Scalp

On the other hand, a dry scalp feels tight right after washing or not feeling oily after 2 to 3 days of not washing your hair.  When your scalp is not moisturized enough, dry scalp can lead to itchiness, irritation and flaking; plus, your hair is typically drier and brittle too.

Normal Scalp

If your Hair doesn’t feel oily even when you wash it on alternate days , you’re a lucky person to have a normal scalp type. This is because your scalp produces the right amount of sebum to keep your scalp well-moisturized, and you are not required to wash your hair and scalp any more or less than you usually do.

Dandruff

Dandruff is a common condition that causes the skin on the scalp to flake. There are 2 types of dandruff that you can tell the difference. With dry dandruff, you will see a lot of snowy white flakes right after shower; whereas oily dandruff builds up over time with yellow greasy flakes that clumped together on your hair.

Sensitive Scalp

With sensitive or hypersensitive scalp, it can cause extreme and significant discomfort to your daily life. You will experience itchiness, redness and pain on your scalp right after hair wash.
