I am so glad sheet masks are still in because even though I have far too many for any human, my eyes still light up when I see a new mask being released! I was not expecting Mary Kay to create another sheet mask as their biocellulose one is QUITE nice, but I welcomed with open arms the new special edition 2-Step Hydrating Sheet Mask which is one of those "poppable" masks to ensure the freshest mask possible!
What makes this mask special? Other than the popping and freshness aspect, the ingredients are actually pretty standard when it comes to skin-conditioning featuring ingredients like glycerin, urea and hyaluronic acid. The mask itself is also made of cellulose fibers and is super soft and silky!
While I understand the appeal of these types of poppable masks, I don't really enjoy the popping process. I always feel like I have to use my full weight to smash the side of the mask with the essence to generate enough force to break the barrier to the other side with the dry sheet mask.

Skin concerns: Hydration and skin conditioning
Scent: Kind of medicinal when you first open the packet, but disappears after a few seconds and I couldn't smell any scent on my face
Essence Type: Clear gel
Duration: 20 minutes (I wore for almost 40 minutes without the mask drying out)
Thickness: Thin
Mask Fit: Quite nice! The sides of the mask were a bit short, but at least I didn't have any bits of mask in my hair!
Tackiness: Light-medium
Hydration: Pretty good without the urge to moisturize. It has been humid here the last few months so I have just left my skin alone after most sheet masks.
Other notes: Mask material was super soft and silky! I was very impressed!
Final verdict: While the "fresh every time" concept for sheet masks is not a new one, I don't know if separating the essence from the actual sheet mask really has any effect on the freshness, but perhaps it does prevent the sheet mask from drying out as I have had that happen before even before the expiration date. Then again, if there is a good amount of essence in the packet, this should not happen. This mask was a nice one with minimal fragrance, cute packaging and generally a nice mask fit overall. The fabric was silky and luxurious just like a good quality Korean sheet mask!
