To ensure that you are getting the best result from your treatment there are so many different lip filler aftercare tips that people need to take into consideration, we would recommend these lip filler aftercare tips.

  1. The initial fullness does not always stay the same

Most people will always find that their lips are swollen after having lip filler treatment, which is completely normal. You always have to remember that the size of your lips right after your treatment is not a true reflection of what your final result will look like, so don’t panic if there slightly bigger than you wanted. Swelling can sometimes last a few days, depending on different factors, but once this swelling subsides you’ll be able to see the actual final result.

  1. The best way to reduce swelling

There are many different ways to help reduce swelling after having lip filler, some people will experience worse swelling than others. Here are some tips to help reduce swelling:

  • Apply a cold icy compress to your lips
  • Drink lots of water
  • Eat healthy foods like fresh fruit and vegetables, as these provide vitamins which help the healing process
  • Avoid strenuous activities and hot temperatures for 24-48 hours after your treatment
  1. Avoid alcohol

You should always try avoiding alcohol for at least 24 hours after your lip filler treatment, and 24 hours before your appointment is sometimes suggested. This is because alcohol acts as a blood thinner, meaning you can end up with more inflammation, leading to worse bruising and swelling.

  1. Don’t fly too soon after your treatment

Flying too soon after having lip filler can result in your swelling and bruising becoming a lot worse, therefore it is recommended to at least wait a week after having your treatment before flying.

  1. Drink lots of fluid & don’t exercise

Keeping well hydrated is the key to seeing good results after your treatment, dehydration can impact your filler dramatically. So do and try and drink as much water as possible after your lip filler. You need to avoid strenuous exercise and anything where you might become very heated, including steam rooms, as these are activities which can also lead to dehydration.
