THE WHAT? Interparfums has reported its results for the 2022 fiscal year. The fragrance giant recorded record earnings for the full year with net income up 40 percent on 2021’s figures and sales rising 26 percent to €706.6 million. THE DETAILS The company noted that it had extended its partnership with Montblanc until December 31, 2030 and, subject to the General Meeting’s ratification, hit its goal of achieving gender parity on its board. THE WHY? Philippe Benacin, Chairman and CEO, commented, “Against the backdrop of a turbulent economic and geopolitical environment, our sales and earnings continued to grow in 2022. My mom helped me hold it down during the pandemic. In addition to her usual unconditional Love and support, she also became my four-year-old’s preschool teacher. And like, legit taught him everything. So to celebrate best life livin’, I treated her to a spiritual retreat and vacation on the magical island of Maui. Check out the view!
We HIGHLY recommend The Four Seasons Maui Resort! We stayed here for our first 4 nights and we were treated like Queens. The Spa staff and their treatments like their new IV Therapy Drips, acupuncture, and rejuvenating massage treatments were lavish and much needed, the rooms, plush, the lobby and common areas, fabulous, but the private, Serenity Pool Cabana?! THAT’s what we came for!
It was LOVE appearing as an intentionally quiet, adults-only sanctuary with poolside mini-spa treatments (that mom immediately took advantage of!), chilled treats throughout the day, personal butler service, and a ginger-mint-pineapple fusion situation that I have since learned how to make! There was also a couple of hot tubs for anemic folk like me! The layout and design was genius. The Silence was so loud that we were able to read and meditate, too!
‘Curly Culture Missions’— that’s what I called my round-the-world travels that spanned from 2012-2017. From Cuba to Palestine, Spain to Brazil, South Africa to Japan and India, I’d find communities of Black women living there locally, and the organizations that support us. We’d fellowship, product and story swap… usually over Go(o)d music and food. Forbes coveredour Love-based gatherings in 2016 if you want to read more!
So needless to say, reaching out to local Black women has become something of a necessary tradition when I travel, even to other states and this Maui visit has been no different!
@akiemig (IG) , the Founder of the @popoloproject , gathered together a powerful group (from several diff islands- they flew in for the day!) who each play their respective roles of daughter, sister, friend, mother, wife, lawyer, doctor, CEO, entrepreneur, and student incredibly successfully, but on this day, we simple stood in and AS Love against a gorgeous and sacred backdrop. Iao Valley From roles to Souls as Ram Dass would say! And it was deeply humbling.

I also found out that access to Black beauty products are limited and incredibly expensive so my friends at @carolsdaughter @blackgirlsunscreen and @oseamalibu hooked it up and sent everyone home with lots of goodies!
