Need to update your eye makeup arsenal? Our editors’ holy-grail picks will give you something to smize about.

Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara, $29

“Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara has been my go-to mascara lately. It’s a tubing mascara, meaning that it creates little “tubes” around each individual lash that just loosen and slip off with warm water—no makeup remover or vigorous rubbing needed. I find that tubing mascaras resist smudging and transferring onto my oily lids better than other mascaras. I never get raccoon eyes at the end of a hot, humid summer day like I used to! This mascara in particular gives nice, fluttery length and a good amount of volume. Combine that with the smudge- and flake-proof power of the tubing formula, and you’ve got my new holy-grail mascara. It’s also cruelty-free and vegan, which is great. I also love how ridiculously easy it is to remove, because these days the last thing I want to do at night is spend 15 minutes trying to get my mascara off. You literally just splash with warm water and the “tubes” fall off of your lashes. Couldn’t be easier.” —Kathryn F.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner, $22

“I don’t always wear eye liner, but when I do, it’s Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Intense Black. I’ve always gravitated toward liquid liner, and this one’s perfect! The sharp felt applicator makes it super easy to create everything from the most subtle, thin lines to bolder, thicker looks. Plus, it dries almost immediately and doesn’t budge until I’m ready to take it off—even through the most humid days, sweaty workouts or long nights out. I mean, it’s called “Stay All Day” for a reason. The cherry on top: the color is super pigmented. What more could I ask for? It’s absolute perfection.” —Nurain A.

Kevyn Aucoin The Eyelash Curler, $21

“My eyelashes are notorious for sticking straight out, or worse…downward. I used to crimp my strands with drugstore curlers, which yielded fleeting lifts—shortly after, my lashes would assume their droopy position. I remember stumbling across Kevyn Aucoin’s The Eyelash Curler and reading its glowing reviews, so I purchased. After just one squeeze, I was officially hooked. The curler opens wide to catch pesky strands, and the sturdy silicone cushion pad effectively pushes lashes upward for fanned results with staying power. Most curler pads quickly wear down over the course of 3 months—not The Eyelash Curler. I haven’t had to switch out the initial pad for over a year. Yes, it’s that good. For me, Kevyn Aucoin’s The Eyelash Curler is the only eye tool I’ve used that surpassed my expectations.” —Victoria V.
