I Tried Soap Brows and I’m Never Going Back

I take pride in my brows. And if you’re anything like me, you’ve probably tried every brow product on the market: fill-in powders, gels, you name it.

Have you considered soap?

Yep, you read that right. Soap brows have been around for decades but are having a moment again. I know it sounds weird, but hear me out.

The supplies

The best part is you only need two things that you probably have at home: a bar of soap and a spoolie. I used Good Molecules Clarify & Cleanse Bar, but you can use any soap bar you prefer—just make sure it doesn’t leave any residue (clear bars are ideal). As for the tool, you can also use any mascara spoolie you have, but I like the Wayne Goss Spoolie Brush.

The technique

All you have to do is run a dry spoolie over the soap and gently brush it through your brows with an upward motion. For a more dramatic look, apply another thin layer. Be careful not to overdo it—the last thing you want is for the soap to be visible. Also, avoid wetting the spoolie, as the soap may start to lather.

The result

My brows held up much longer than they usually do with brow gel. They looked fuller and had that perfectly fluffy, feathered texture everyone is after—minus the flaking. My brows looked fuller and more lifted. Not only is soap much cheaper than most brow gels, it might even be more effective.

As weird as it sounds, this trend is worth trying—it’s easy, quick, cost effective, and actually works. Looks like I might break up with my brow gel and commit to soap instead.
